How to Copy and Paste 1. This is probably one of the most important and handy things you can learn on your computer. To start, you need to write something on your computer or find some text on the web that you want to copy. 2. You must point your mouse at the beginning of the text or image that you want to copy. Then you need to hold down the left mouse button as you move it to the right/left or up/down. This is called "selecting." It will make the image or text that you are selecting darker or it'll reverse the image. (i.e. The image will look like a negative and the text will go from black to white surrounded by black.) 3. Now you must go to the top of the screen and click on the "Edit" menu to find Copy. Click on that and then find the space in your document that you want to paste it. Position your cursor where you want it and then go back to the "Edit" menu and click on "Paste." 4. Alternatively, you can also push your "ctrl" button at the lower right and left hand corners of you keyboard along with the letter "C" to Copy. CTRL+C. This is known as using a shortcut. This way you don't have to go hunting in the menus. To paste, push CTRL+V. 5. To Cut, push CTRL+X after selecting the text that you want to move or remove. (Cutting is taking a piece of text and temporarily deleting it to move it somewhere else in the document.) Now position your mouse/pointer to where you want to insert the text you cut and push CTRL+V (or use the menu system). 6. Practice this in your word processor.
